What is the Power Meter Windows Driver?
The Power Meter driver is a software component that allows the operating system (Windows) to manage and display information about the battery or power source for portable devices, like laptops, and other systems that have a power meter or power management features.
The Power Meter driver communicates with the hardware to show the status of the battery (e.g., charge level, charging status, power consumption, etc.) in the Windows Battery icon in the system tray. It can also help control power-saving features, such as when your device switches to a lower power mode or enters sleep.
This driver is particularly important on laptops, tablets, and 2-in-1 devices, as it ensures that power management functions like battery monitoring, charging, and performance scaling are functioning correctly. On desktop systems, this driver is generally less critical, but it still plays a role in reporting power usage.
